The new year is the ideal time to come up with a few simple resolutions for creating healthy habits to take into the new year. If it’s improving toothbrushing habits or seeking dental treatment, wellness resolutions are always a good idea and the benefits of setting goals can be rewarding as well as motivating. Remember to make resolutions attainable by taking small steps to reach them.

Get into a frequent brushing and flossing routine

Prevention is a crucial cure when it comes to good oral health. Brushing twice and simply flossing is going to prevent plaque from developing on and between your teeth, which in turn prevents gum disease and other, more serious, health issues.

Kick the habit

Tobacco can trigger all kinds of oral health issues, this includes bad breath, stained teeth, gum disease, tooth loss, and an increased risk of oral cancer. Stopping the habit is one of the most beneficial things you can do for your oral health (not to mention your overall health) next year.

Schedule an appointment with a dental practice

Whether you have put off dental work that you know you need or are simply in need of a regular check-up, the new year is the perfect time to schedule an appointment.

Avoid Gum Disease

Frequent brushing and flossing will stop gum disease. Improving daily oral care routines is an easy way to improve your health. For strong plaque removal, you need to brush at least twice a day using a good toothbrush and a fluoride toothpaste.

In order to do this well, you need to position the bristles at a 45-degree angle toward the gum line and move the toothbrush across the teeth. Floss at least once per day to get rid of any unwanted debris that may have accumulated during the day. You also need to replace your toothbrush every 3 to 4 months.
